Rocky’s Restaurant

With the news of the passing of Rocco Mastrella (see Obituaries page under Documents and check the Rochester page under Photos) brought memories and smells to my day. Of course, the food (gnocchis-still my fave) I remember Friday fish frys when we could hangout with whatever cousins were there, timidly entering the male sanctuary of the bar to get a “pop”, a huge dog (seemed big to me) that guarded the outside steps to the bar and much more. For those who need the family connection Rocco was the son of Louise who was cousin to Mary Tomasso D’Agostino (they both lived at the Jay St house (long ago demolished) and attended St. Patrick’s School. Louise was the daughter of Mama Carlina sister to Grandma Angelina.
