Pasquale Tomasso's Ancestors

September 29, 2026

We’ve located Pasquale Tomasso‘s 5x great-grandfather, Carlo Alonzo and Margherita Ferrari both born about 1700. Note all the intermarrying with Ferrari, Fiorini and Lombardi families. And no one really leaves or marries outside Sora!

The name Alonzo (aka Alonzi) has both Spanish and German origins. It’s derived from the Visigothic name “Adalfuns,” which means “noble and ready” or “eager for nobility”. It’s also a variant of the name Alfonso, which has roots in the region of León Spain

Spain’s control of central and southern Italy from 1504 to 1715 led to large-scale immigration of soldiers, clergy, viceroys, governors, and their families.

Recent DNA results do show a distant link to Isabel Garcia Alonzo (Born 1626) in Murcia Spain and married in 1648 into the Moreno Martinez family.
