Sant’Egidio alla Vibrata (Abruzzo)

Sant’Egidio alla Vibrata, in the Province of Teramo, is located on the border with Marche in the northern part of the Abruzzo region. It is named after the Val Vibrata river which flows through it. The town is divided into an old, now abandoned fortified part dating back to the 7th century and a new modern center. Sant’Egidio alla Vibrata is a prosperous industrial area with factories producing jeans, shirts, confetti, and furniture. There are currently about 9,000 residents
Sant’Egidio (St Giles) is the patron saint of hermits. It is also the name of a global lay organization based in Rome which focuses on prayer, service, friendship.
